How to pick the right page
Cooling problems in summer
If the house won't cool, the air is weak or the outdoor unit is silent, start with AC repair. If the system is older and the repair is large, the installation page and the repair-or-replace guide help with that choice. Ice on the lines often points to airflow or filter problems rather than a broken part.
Heating problems in winter
No heat, a furnace that shuts off after a few seconds, or a heat pump blowing cool air are covered on heating and furnace repair. Thermostat issues like a blank screen or constant aux heat have their own page. A burning dust smell on the first cold day is usually normal and fades quickly.
Water where it shouldn't be
A leak, a puddle or a wet ceiling is a plumbing job; start at leaks and pipes or the emergency plumbing page. Water dripping from the indoor AC unit is usually a clogged condensate line, which sits between HVAC and plumbing. Since we do both, either page gets you to the right fix.
Hot water troubles
No hot water, rumbling tanks, and leaks at the heater are on the water heater page, and error codes or temperature swings on tankless units are on the tankless page. Hard Las Vegas water is behind many of these problems, so flushing and descaling come up on both.
